deCoubertin Books, Golazio & John Arne Riise
To organise the press launch for John Arne Riise’s autobiography, Running Man - in just two weeks, on a wet Monday night in December.
John Arne Riise is best know for his time playing for Liverpool, Roma and Fulham, gifted with one of (if not the) most powerful kicks ever known in history of football. So powerful it famously broke Alan Smith's leg during and FA Cup tie in 2006. His lesser known side is that of his challenging childhood, growing up without his father and facing daily threats from school bullies. However, with such short notice, how were we to encourage people to attend the launch of his autobiography, to hear these stories and write about them in the press?
By bringing together the publisher, deCoubertin Books with existing client, Golazio, BIG little LDN were able to organise the press launch of John Arne Riise's autobiography, Running Man at a venue which offered football journalist and fans alike, a more alluring appeal than a launch from a generic bookstore.
We ensured a variety of journalists attended from a range of publications and organised one on one media interviews with those who had a particular angle in mind. We also set up the general public ticket sales and pre-sales of Running Man using Design My Night and worked closely with our media partners, The Gentleman Ultra to formalise the content of the live audience panel discussion and Q&A.
A full house. The event was well attended by the press and public alike, including fans from the London Liverpool and Roma Fan Club's which provided a great atmosphere of jovial rivalry and banter.
The event generated over 47 individual pieces of coverage with a reach of 199 million.. Just a few of publications included, The Evening Standard, City AM, Football Italia, Sports Joe, The Guardian, Daily Mail, The Gentleman Ultra, Four Four Two, iNews, Fox Sport, ESPN, Goal.com, Prost International and the Liverpool, Roma and Fulham fan clubs.
One Roma fan did a 400 mile round trip from Leeds to London and back again just so he could meet his idol and ask Riise on his preference - A Roma or Merseyside Derby.
A healthy number of pre-sale books and further sales on the night.
As well as coverage for John Arne Riise, we secured coverage for the venue, Golazio who was mentioned in over 50% of the press articles.
