BIG little LDN happened by mistake. But that’s how all the best things start isn’t it?
In 2016, 15-months before she was due to marry, Emma Critchley & her Fiancee bought their very first home. A little flat on Fish Island. Nothing much. But it was theirs. They kitted it out with carpets and wardrobes and spent hours arguing over which shade of grey to paint the walls (Emma won of course). But shortly after they moved in her Fiancee was unfairly dismissed from work. They went from a household of two jobs to one. Solicitor fees took the place of table settings and flower arrangements became a ‘nice to have’. Soon there was more money coming out than in and Emma had two options.
Sink or Swim. And only one of those would get her that flower arrangement.
Having just moved to the most concentrated area of artists and makers in the world, Emma put a message out on the Hackney Wick Locals Facebook page asking if anyone needed an experienced Marketing or PR Manager on a part-time basis. Although working full-time she was free at evenings and weekends. Within 24-hours she had two responses. After a couple of months, results started yielding, word of mouth was spreading and those two became four and quickly those four became six.
The wedding went down in history. Emma Critchley became Emma Lloyd and what started as a solution to a problem had now become an invested interest. Emma could see the results her marketing was having on the businesses she was working with. Businesses which are the livelihood of the people she had built close relationships with. Seeing them do better because of the work she was doing wasn’t a feeling she’d ever had before. Why would she give that up?
And so BIG little London was born. We exist to give small businesses the same level of PR & Marketing services and expertise found at large companies for a cost tailored to suit their budgets. Independent businesses are the backbone of the UK economy and they need to be marketed too!
